How to Set Up an Instagram Profile

On Mobile
Step 1:
Open your Instagram app and click on the profile icon.
Step 2:
Click edit profile.
Step 3:
Here you will be in Instagram’s profile editor tool. We'll start with uploading a photo. Click edit picture.
Step 4:
Choose from the library to upload an image of yourself from your camera roll.
Step 5:
Now you're in Instagram's photo library. Click manage if Instagram doesn't have access to your camera roll. This will allow you to select which photos you want the app to have access to.
Step 6:
Click 'Select more photos' to hand-select which images you want Instagram to have access to. This will bring you to your camera roll, where you will click on each photo individually to give access. Once you have picked your profile picture, hit Done in the top right-hand corner.
Step 7:
Now that you have added your desired profile picture, click on the image and hit Done when ready.
Step 8:
Great-you have just uploaded a profile picture. Let's move on to your Instagram bio. Click the bio option.
Step 9:
Your Instagram bio is similar to Linked. It’s a place to tell people who they are connecting with. For Instagram, you can keep it much more casual since there is a character limit. We recommend including "Opinions represented are my own" so people know you aren't speaking on behalf of Mars Veterinary Health. Once you have typed out your bio, click Done in the upper right corner.
Step 10:
Now that you have an image and bio, click the back button.

Next, navigate to the search page by clicking the magnifying glass icon at the bottom of your screen.

Click the search bar at the top of the page

Here you will be able to search for accounts to follow. We recommend all Mars-related accounts, as well as MVH leaders, so you can amplify their content! Start by clicking into the search bar and typing an account.

Once you have identified an account, you'll be directed to their Instagram profile page. Click the follow button so you never miss an update on their content!

On Desktop
Click "Edit profile": Open Instagram and navigate to your profile page to begin customizing your account. Select the 'Edit Profile' option to access your personal information settings.
Step 1: Locate bio
Locate the 'Bio' section to update your personal description. Your instagram bio is similar to linkedin, its a place to tell people who they are connecting with. For instagram, you can keep it much more casual since there is a characters limit. We recommend including "Opinions represented are my own" so people know you aren't speaking on behalf of Mars Veterinary Health.
Step 2: Click "Submit"
Save your changes by submitting the updated bio information with the blue button at the bottom of the page.
Step 3: Click "Profile"
Navigate back to your profile page to view your updated bio and to upload your new picture.
Step 4: Click here
On your desktop profile page, click directly on the gray profile photo area with the camera icon. This will prompt you to upload a new photo from your computer. Select your image, and your profile picture will update automatically.
Step 5: Check if updated
Make sure you like how your photo and bio looks on your profile page.
Step 6: Search accounts
Navigate to the search bar on the left panel. Here you will be able to search accounts to follow, we recommend all Mars related accounts as well as MVH leaders so you can amplify their content! Start by clicking into the search bar and typing an account.
Step 7: Find accounts
A dropdown menu will appear with accounts related to the words you searched. Once you see the account you are looking for, click on it.
Step 8: Click "Follow"
You'll then be directed to their instagram profile page. Click the follow button at the top so you never miss an update on their content! And that's it! You've updated your profile, great job!
